Bio 


Kacsó Hanga was born in Szolnok city, central Hungary. Her parents originated from the Hungarian minorities of Tansylvania, Rumania where the folk singing tradition was alive. In her family everybody was an excellent singer and her grandfather was a cimbalom player. These all determined Hanga's future.

She strarted singing in an orgased form in Szolnok "Népdalkör" (folk singing society). Her talency became clear there, as a little girl she already won gold medals in two different contests of folk singing.

Her music education started in Pikéthy Tibor Grammar School of Music, in the city of Vác. In 2014 she beacame known nationwide as the winner of the folk singing category of the "Fölszállott a Páva" folk performing art contest of the Duna Television Channel.

She got involved with the teaching of folk singing and dancing, In the summer of 2014 and 2015 she educated disandvantaged children in Erzsébet Talantum Camp. In these years she was the icon of the Day of the Hungarian Folk Song in Martonvásár.

She continuad her musical education at the Liszt Ferenc University of Music, Budapest at the folk singing and folk musicology department. From 2018 she received a scholarship to the Babos.Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca, Rumania.

She regularly teach folk singing and folk dance abroad, mainly at her native land, Transylvania. In Kalotaszeg region (Bánffyhunyad, Méra) she taught folk singing for children with the support of the House of Heritage.

Besides of her solo activity she appears in instrumental folk formations, too. She is one of the founder of the Esszencia Folk Group, where she was the solo singer till 2018. Their first album, "Elindultunk a nagy útra" was released in 2017.

Since 2016 she regulary appears in the internationally renowned folk group Muzsikás. Her debut with them was at the Ashkenaz Festival, Toronto, Canada in 2016, followed by a short North American tour included Calgary, Montreal and New York. Their cooperation continued with successful performances at prestigeous concert halls and festival like the Palace of Arts, Budapest, Hong Kong Arts Centre, Internatinal Center New Delhi, Merode Festival (Belgium), Ethnoport Festival (Poznań), Taipei Folk Festival (Taiwan), Enescu Festival (Brasov), Sur Jahan Festival (Kolka, Goa).

For the 2019 concert season they have got invitations among the others from Switzerland, Germany, Poland, Holland, Portugal, USA and India.

Her first solo album "Emlékezzél meg" released only for non-commercial use by the help of the Reformed Church, Targu Mures connected to the 500 year anniversary of the Reformation. Her aim is to release it in 2019 completed with some additional songs.Under construction...
